The 2017 HKFC Citi Junior Soccer Sevens tournament will be held at Hong Kong Football Club on May 20-21, with the finals taking place the following weekend during the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens.

The Junior Soccer Sevens will be a seven-a-side format and will feature up to 20 local clubs fielding teams across four age groups: U-9, U-10, U-11 and U-12.

Teams in each age group have an opportunity to compete for the Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup, with the finals of the Plate and Cup being played during the afternoon sessions of the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens.

In the inclusive spirit of the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens, this will mean participation from players aged eight all the way through to ex-professionals in the Masters Tournament.

This year we will also run a football festival for U-6, U-7, U-8 and girls on the adjacent Hockey astro pitch. This means even more kids will get to experience the Junior Soccer Sevens.

About HKFC Junior Soccer

A chairman and committee of volunteers organise HKFC Junior Soccer within the HKFC Soccer Section, while all head coaches and coaches are volunteer parents and others willing to give up their time.

As the largest programme of its kind in Hong Kong, HKFC Junior Soccer currently has more than 650 players ranging in age from U-6 to U-14.

These groups are structured into an all-inclusive community programme for as many players as can be accommodated, club members and non-members.

Up to the U-14 age group, the programme has teams competing in the Hong Kong Junior League against other local clubs and soccer schools.

Additionally, at U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-18 levels, HKFC runs a Youth Pathway Programme for players selected by trial who represent the club in the HKFA’s Jockey Club Youth League. These squads have independent professional head coaches who select and coach the players.

All HKFC Junior Soccer coaches are expected to successfully complete the English FA Level One equivalent three-day course, which the programme arranges and funds for all the volunteer coaches.
